Associating sybols or letters with different numeric values is the basis for most algebraic equations.

My personal beleif is that the begining to learning advanced algebraic equatios is an open mind. When the mind is opened it allows us to start seeing numbers in a different light. Think about it, our whole live we have always thought of numbers and letters as different subjects. Now with algebra we can use numbers to represent different numeric values.
